Plot:

Robert Neville, a doctor, due to an experimental vaccine, is the only survivor of an apocalyptic war waged with biological weapons. The plague caused by the war has killed everyone else except for a few hundred deformed, nocturnal people calling themselves "The Family". The plague has caused them to become sensitive to light, as well as homicidally psychotic. They believe science and technology to be the cause of the war and their punishment, and Neville, as the last symbol of science, the old world, and a "user of the wheel", must die. Neville, using electricity, machinery, and science attempts to hold them at bay.

Has Chuck ever been as cool as he is in The Omega Man throughout his career? I don't think so. Playing Robert Neville, he's the very meaning of a bad-*** and gives us some very cool one-liners. I've been told that Tim Burton once said that Heston, as Neville, gave us the very first one-liners in movie history. Not sure if it's true or not, maybe someone on here knows of some one-liners being said in older movies than this one?

Anyway, this is IMO a classic sci-fi that has gotten something of a cult-status since its release. The fact that there's forum dedicated to the movie alone proves it.

I like the in-joke of Heston playing chess with Julius Caesar.

One of my favorite Heston movies, especially the first half of the movie is great when Neville is alone, talking to himself and playing chess with a statue.

Yes, I much prefer the first half than the latter when he had people to interact with.
