I decided to re-watch the Gary Cooper DVD set that I bought a few years ago.

The Woman in Black (2012)

from Hammer films, a throwback to old Hammer films from the sixties or old-style horror films in general, such as The Haunting (1963)... it was interesting to me as a rare try at an actual film, as opposed to a cartoon masquerading as a film, a pet peeve of mine concerning most films released in the past couple of decades.

As a side note, I watched a few of the old Hammer Frankenstein films in the past week, a couple of which I hadn't seen before, such as Horror of Frankenstein (1970) and Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (74). Both these films had David Prowse (Darth Vader) playing the monster, though he looked very different in each of the two films. The latter one starred Peter Cushing, who also appeared in the 1st Star Wars film.

Hammer Films still exists?! :o I did not know this. I thought they had gone the way of Cannon Films and other notorious studios who made an impact on cinema before going bankrupt.

Sounds interesting, and since I've never seen a Harry Potter movie, Daniel Radcliffe probably won't annoy/distract me when watching it.

Yes, Hammer has a weird history - I also thought they were gone for good. Their film output petered out in the late seventies and then the studio produced a couple of TV series in the early eighties (House of Hammer, etc.). But, after that, the studio went into some kind of coma or deep sleep - it didn't really die as we thought (just don't go looking for any Hammer films in the eighties and nineties - there aren't any). The studio was suddenly purchased by a new owner in 2007 and has produced a few films since - I think The Woman in Black is the latest.

I have watched the Potter films, but Radcliffe, for some reason, looked different and older to me in this film; he seemed about 30 years old in this role.

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN. It was quite amusing, I should say for visual entertainment, but somehow the original flavour of reading the book-series was not there.

I thought it was OK. Was never a big fan of Tintin.
