What baffles me, is, if the French can release all three MUSKETEER movies in a boxset, why can't the British or Americans?

Just watched both this and "Three Musketeers" (1973) over the past two days and enjoyed both. Heston's morally ambiguous portrayal of the Cardinal was a highlight, especially his line "I have no enemies - only enemies of France." based on a real quote by the Cardinal.

However...

Spoiler:
The death of Constance felt out of place with the overall tone of the film, source material be damned. Tragic as it was it just... just... I don't know, landed with a thud and then we get an upbeat ending to usher us out as if it had never happened.
