Studio One was the very early anthology series on U.S. TV - in the Golden Age of TV - beginning the broadcast of high-class adaptations way back in 1948. Heston was in quite a few episodes; this was some of his earliest pro work as an actor, including in "The Wings of the Dove," "Jane Eyre," "MacBeth" and "Wuthering Heights."

The "Wuthering Heights" episode was broadcast in 1950, the same year as Heston's first pro film Dark City.
So now, exclusive to the Charlton Heston Forums,
a scene from "Wuthering Heights" with Charlton Heston:

It seems the Youtube video is set on "Private" which means (I think) you have to invite people to watch it. I could be wrong though, I'm not 100% of his this works. Hope it works out, because I realy want to watch the clip! :)

I'm not sure I understand you, Thorn.

You mean when you click it, the video will not play?

EDIT: OK, I get it. I changed the settings on it - should be OK now.

Indeed. It only says that this video is private with no other explanation. First I thought that you simply had to be logged in to view it, but when I did the same problem stands.

I edited my post above at the same time as you posted your latest,
so, in case you don't see it, I've changed the settings on the video in question.

Oh, no I didn't catch that. Now I can see the video, nice upload! Vintage Heston is about as interesting things could get.

Yes, it's also eye-opening how Heston's character had this warm respect
for women back then (not! :o ):

Great clips, and a pleasant surprise for me! I searched for Heston's performance as Heathcliff, but could not find this anywhere. Thanks to you, Chrysagon. Can you tell me whether the whole product is available anywhere? Heston also played Mr. Rochester in a TV production of Charlotte Bronte's 'Jane Eyre'-- please let me know if you have anything on that, too.

Yes, the entire Wuthering Heights episode is on the Studio One Anthology DVD set, a 6-disc set of 17 episodes released about 3 years ago. You can check it out at Amazon.com as one option: Image (click image)

There are no other episodes on that DVD with Heston in them, unfortunately.

I thought I had something on Jane Eyre, but I was mistaken. I might have mixed it up with The WINGS of a DOVE, another episode which I do have on an old VHS tape. I plan on getting it out of the closet and see if there's something there I can post on here.

Wuthering Heights is my favorite book of all time! I'm definitely buying this as soon as possible.
