Out of the many Westerns that Charlton Heston made in his career, which one is your favorite? Feel free to motivate your choices.

Note: I didn't include Tombstone since he was not one of its main stars.

Yeah, it's Will Penny for me too.

One of my two favorite (or best in my opinion) Heston performances
(the other being in The War Lord).

I haven't seen all of Heston's westerns yet, but out of the ones I've seen I have to give the vote to The Big Country. Overall I think it's the better movie, but I like Heston's performance in Will Penny better. It's a close call between the two, though. If Heston wasn't so damn good as Will Penny, I don't think it would have been such a close call. Heston's performance in Will Penny just makes the movie so much better.

Oh, I have turned this into a boring thread, by voting for 'WILL PENNY'.I like 'BIG COUNTRY' very much, but I have put it as my second choice only for the reason that Chuck is not in the main role...

My choice is 'Big Country'. Though Heston is not in the main role, he gives a wonderful performance as Steeve Leech.

I'm so glad to see another vote for my favorite western. While Chuck outdid himself in the role of Will Penny, it is my opinion that The Big Country is the better movie overall.

THE BIG COUNTRY is a great western, but Heston gave one of his best ever performances in WILL PENNY.
I like ARROWHEAD and PONY EXPRESS as well, and THE MOUNTAIN MEN is very good.
