Isn't it a legal concern enough already for what they have used? As far as I know, if someone uses a footage of another movie or video or anything without acknowledging it properly, there would be copyright problems.

I'm sure that the TV producers paid a nominal fee for the use of whatever footage they used from any films in their TV episodes; that's how it's usually done (it probably wasn't too expensive since they wouldn't be able to afford much on their TV budget). When I watched the episode, however, I was looking for mention of the footage or acknowledgment at the end credits and didn't see any; so, maybe just getting paid for the footage was all that was required by the film owners (the studio - unless it's the same studio that does the TV series, perhaps; then maybe there was no cost).

I was speculating on whether there were any other issues or larger costs involved when using footage of a specific, highly-paid actor like Heston. My thinking is if it was inexpensive too or without other legal issues, it would be done all the time; for example, the TV producers could have used footage of Heston in this episode and publicized it as a special guest appearance. But, I'm guessing this sort of stuff wasn't done because it would have involved paying such an actor a lot for use of his specific footage and image, or there simply were too many legal hurdles.

Wasn't there a funny story during filming about someone stealing Chuck's car and a newspaper reported it as "Ben-Hur's chariot stolen"?
