Here is one--

"How long will they keep me in cold water? If I get the whole crew to be baptised, they will understand. "

Strange, how should the girl know about Harry? Is she the daughter of Elena as you guys were imagining in the alternate reality thread?

In a way, it's supposed to be strange - strange humor. In the imagined world of gag captioning, everyone knows everyone else - that includes all famous archaeologists and treasure hunters, and their assistants and girlfriends. Otherwise, the gags wouldn't be possible (how well they work is another matter  ). In my imagined scenario of that gag caption you refer to, I envisioned Harry Steele, Indiana Jones and Heston's Prof. Corbeck from The Awakening all at the same massive dig somewhere; they got separated in different tunnels and are looking for each other. Maybe I should have provided an explanation with the picture... :-?

That reminds me - maybe someday James Byrne or Judah can write up a fantasy treatment about all three of those characters on an adventure together - maybe they run into mad Mummies or some such thing...

This one is just a champion's stroke, Knight! Freud couldn't have thought better of dreams.

True, Judah - I didn't intend as much as I posted it, but afterwards I noted that there was a lot of deeper meaning and existentialism associated with this captioning attempt. Strange how these things turn out sometimes.

Here's a group of funny pics from PLANET OF THE APES; these aren't mine; I noticed them on some other board and thought they were pretty funny. We all know the actual dialog to this famous scene at the end...

But what if it turned out... differently?

------------------------------------------------------------------"BLEW IT UP" - get it?

This is also another strange one of the same scene... not sure what it all means:

Does he need a spear??? Isn't it better to catch Moore ge..e..e..ntly by the collar and then...

Here is one: not very glorious for a man like Chuck, but funny enough to link it to the character's position --

Actually, it's an ax - that's like Chuck reverting to his Chrysagon or Henry VIII role and going medieval on Moore... chop-chop
(hey, you know how it is - it's Tax Day - wish I could take an ax to my tax  )

Heh - that one reminds me of an old ad in the Planet of the Apes magazines/comics; they placed these ads in their magazine back then, around 1975, to try to get more subscribers; I always thought that this one was funny:
