The second Bimonthly Newsletter from the Charlton Heston Forums has now been sent to all members. For those who prefer reading it on the forum, here it is:

Welcome to the second bimonthly newsletter of the Charlton Heston Forums, bringing you the latest news on Charlton Heston and the forum you’re all members of. We’ll start with some exciting…

GENERAL CHARLTON HESTON NEWS

*For years, there has been a movement that has worked hard on trying to get Charlton Heston an Honorary US Postage Stamp. The wait is finally over after USPS announced that on April 11th, our own Chuck will be on the 18th stamp in the Legends of Hollywood series!

It is the first stamp in the series to be released since Gregory Peck received his stamp back in 2011. He joins not only Peck in this exclusive series, but also other notable legends such as James Stewart, John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Henry Fonda and Audrey Hepburn.

To mark this historic event, TCM and USPS are going to salute Heston on April 11th with a Stamp Dedication Ceremony during the 2014 TCM Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles. Notable attendees will be Charlton Heston’s wife, Lydia Clarke Heston and his son, Fraser Clarke Heston along with other family members and honored guests. The event is open to the public with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. There will also be a special autographing session after the ceremony with TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz, Fraser Clarke Heston and other honored guests.

DVD & BLU-RAY NEWS

*Since last time, 55 Days at Peking has been both announced and released on Blu-ray in France and will be released in the UK as well on April 7th, courtesy of Anchor Bay. The French Blu-ray has lots of extras on it, some in French only and some in the English language. It has gotten a great review on DVDbeaver which you can read here: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film4/blu-ray_ ... lu-ray.htm

Hopefully the UK release will have the same transfer and include some extras as well.

To order the French Blu-ray, follow this link: http://www.amazon.fr/Les-55-jours-P%C3% ... 239&sr=8-1

To pre-order the UK Blu-ray, follow this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/55-Days-At-Peki ... 625&sr=8-1

*Eureka Entertainment in the UK has revealed that they will be the first in the world to release The War Lord on Blu-ray. The date of release has been set to April 14th and you can pre-order your copy by following this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/War-Lord-Blu-ra ... 291&sr=1-2

So far the special features announced is an isolated music and effects track, the original theatrical trailer and more to be announced closer to release. As always, this Eureka Entertainment release will come with a booklet that will include a new essay and rare archival imagery.

*For those of you in the US who have been waiting for Touch of Evil to be released over there, the wait is soon over as Universal Studios announced that a Blu-ray is coming your way on April 15th. It seems to have the exact same extras as the 50th anniversary DVD that came out in 2008 (including the 58-page memo written by Orson Welles), which were also included in Eureka’s Masters of Cinema release of the movie on Blu-ray back in 201i in the UK. Unless there’s an improvement over the UK transfer, which most people seems very pleased with, there’s no need for a double-dip for those of us who already have the Masters of Cinema release.

If you want to add this to your Charlton Heston collection, you can pre-order it by following this link: http://www.amazon.com/Touch-Evil-Limite ... 344&sr=1-1

*Khartoum has now been released on Blu-ray and has gotten nothing but great reviews for the terrific picture and audio quality. Read the review on Blu-ray.com here: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Khartoum- ... 45/#Review

*Agony and the Ecstasy was released last week on Blu-ray in the US and it too has gotten a terrific review, which you can read here: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Agony ... 47/#Review

Good news for fans in the UK is that it will be released in the UK as well on March 31st.

To order the American Blu-ray, follow this link: http://www.amazon.com/Agony-Ecstasy-Blu ... 654&sr=1-2

To pre-order the UK Blu-ray, follow this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Agony-Ecstasy-B ... 531&sr=8-3

NEW/CURRENT TOPICS ON THE CHARLTON HESTON FORUMS

*Watch and listen to a rare clip of Charlton Heston as he receives his Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Oscars ceremony in 1978: heston-receiving-the-jean-hersholt-humanitarian-award-t509.html

*We all love Chuck and became fans of his thanks to the many great movies he made throughout his career. However, one can’t deny that he made some stinkers over the years. The question in the following topic is, which movie do you think is the worst that he ever did? Tell us which one you think is the worst of them all here: worst-charlton-heston-movie-t510.html

*Forum veteran Chrysagon has started a series of threads with the goal to find out what the best Charlton Heston movie is from each decade. Vote for what you think is the best movie from…

Best cameo/supporting role in the 90’s/2000’s: heston-s-best-film-from-the-nineties-t517.html

*Last but not least, I have proposed a new subforum to be created called “Other Actors & Actresses”, with the goal of making the off-topic section more active. The idea is that even if you don’t have anything to add to any of the discussions regarding Charlton Heston and his movies on any given day or moment, you can stop by this subforum to discuss the works of other actors and actresses you hold dear.

I have decided to let the members of the forum vote on this to see whether it is a welcomed addition to the forum or not. Whatever option wins, Thy Will Be Done. The poll will only run until April 7th, so please stop by to put your vote in and let us know how you feel.

Visit the topic and cast your vote here: new-subforum-other-actors-actresses-t519.html

That concludes the second Bimonthly Newsletter from the Charlton Heston Forums. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you around the forums.

Sincerely/Your Damned Dirty Admin
